Description

PVC Trim: The Workhorse Profile. Light. Cheap. Does the Job.

A fitter can carry a full job's worth under one arm. They cut with a hand saw - no aluminium blade, no mitre saw, no sparks. On a 50-unit housing block, that speed adds up. One extra bathroom per day, per crew.

Material is PVC compounded with calcium carbonate. Co-extruded colour through the profile. Scratch it on site - the colour is still there underneath. Unlike painted aluminium that chips to bare metal. Unlike cheap polystyrene trim that snaps when the panel expands 2mm on a hot day.

We extrude six standard types. Aluminium covers five of the same profiles in 300cm lengths; PVC adds the quadrant and runs in 240/260/290cm. The difference is cost, finish, and where you use them.

Key PVC trim specs and order facts

Profiles: six types - internal corner, external corner, end cap / U-channel, H joint, L angle, quadrant.

Lengths and fit: 240 / 260 / 290 cm standard, one piece per wall height, sized for 8-10 mm PVC wall panels.

Order basis: MOQ 300 pcs per colour for PVC trim, and the same for aluminium, mixed profiles accepted within the total order. Packed 10 pcs per PE bag, 25 or 50 pcs per carton. Custom colours and branded cartons run through our OEM and ODM service. 15-25 days standard, 25-35 days for custom colour.

Chrome PVC external corner trim profile for wall panel installation

Six PVC Trim Types. One Profile System.

PVC Internal Corner Trim

The workhorse of every bathroom installation. Two panels meet at 90 degrees. The internal corner sits behind both edges. No silicone. No exposed cut line. No callback six months later when the joint has gone yellow.

We have torn out bathrooms where the fitter used silicone instead of internal corner trim. The mould was behind the silicone bead - you could not see it until the panel started lifting off the wall. MDF backing had swollen. The whole wall came out. That is a £600-800 redo per bathroom versus £3 worth of PVC trim.

Of the six profiles, the internal corner is the PVC trim buyers specify first - it removes the silicone joint entirely. Paired with PVC bathroom wall panels, it is the standard wet-wall detail.

Lengths: 240cm, 260cm, 290cm. One piece per wall height. No joining.

PVC External Corner Trim

Outside edges take impact. Hallway turns. Shower enclosure entry. The corner of a vanity panel at knee height. PVC external corner is thick-walled. It flexes on impact and returns. Aluminium dents and stays dented. PVC bounces back.

This profile takes the most site abuse - trolley corners, door frames, shower enclosure entries - and it is the one where PVC beats aluminium outright.

Downside: PVC external corner will yellow faster than aluminium in direct sunlight. If the room has a south-facing window, spec aluminium. If it is an internal bathroom with no natural light, PVC lasts 15+ years without visible colour shift.

PVC End Cap / U-Channel

Caps exposed panel edges at windows, doors, half-walls. Fitters fix it with hybrid polymer adhesive - one cartridge per 12-15 linear metres.

Also called an edge trim - the name most spec sheets use - the job of this profile is to cap the exposed cut edge of a wall panel at windows, doors and half-walls.

Failure mode we see on site: fitters using acrylic sealant instead of hybrid polymer. Acrylic hardens. Thermal cycle cracks it. The end cap delaminates from the panel within a heating season. Use the right adhesive. It costs £1.20 more per cartridge and saves a warranty claim.

PVC H Joint Trim

For long runs, specify the H joint - it is the PVC trim we recommend on any wall over 3 metres.

Joins two panels on long walls. The centre bar creates a visible 3mm line. Some fitters hate the line and try to butt-joint panels with colour-matched sealant. Do not do this. Panels expand 1-2mm over 3 metres with temperature change. The sealant cracks. The H joint absorbs the movement. The line is better than the crack. This is the only profile in the range that absorbs movement while keeping a straight sight line.

PVC L Angle Trim

Where a ceiling or floor junction needs a decorative line, the L angle is the PVC trim we quote.

Perimeter finishing. Ceiling line. Floor line. Skirting board transition. Fitters cut it with a hand saw in seconds. One strip per edge. Fixed with adhesive. No mechanical fixing needed on standard installations.

PVC Quadrant Trim

At a curved internal corner, the quadrant does what a square PVC trim cannot: the radius sheds water and leaves no dirt trap.

Curved internal corner. Radius profile instead of square. Water sheds off the curve in shower enclosures. Dirt does not collect in the corner. Specified for UK wet rooms under NHBC guidance. Same length options as the rest of the PVC range.

PVC trim colour range - all six wall panel trim types in chrome, white, black, grey and gold

Black PVC Trim - Matte Finish. No Paint. No Peel.

Black PVC trim is the fastest-growing spec request we see. Architects want black external corners against white marble panels. Hotel designers want matte black end caps for a shadow-line effect. Retail fit-outs use black H joints as a grid pattern on feature walls.

The colour is co-extruded through the profile. Not painted on. Not wrapped. Scratch the surface - it is still black underneath. The finish is matte, not gloss. Gloss black trim shows every fingerprint and dust line. Matte hides them. In commercial fit-outs where cleaning staff wipe trims daily, matte black stays looking clean between visits.

We keep black PVC trim in stock across all six profile types. Standard 240/260/290cm lengths. Same 8-10mm panel compatibility as the rest of the PVC range. No minimum order surcharge for black - it runs on the same extrusion line as white and grey.

For black aluminium trim - anodised black or black powder coat - see our Aluminium Trim page.

The six profiles above make up one PVC trim system. Buyers list this family under several names - PVC panel trims, edge trims, joint trims, panel mouldings or coving profiles - but the channel dimensions are the same whichever name your spec sheet uses.

PVC Trim vs Aluminium Trim: When to Use Which

US spec sheets call these aluminum trim and list color rather than colour; the profile, the finish options and the comparison below are unchanged.

PVC trim costs less per metre. It cuts faster. It does not corrode in wet areas because there is no metal to oxidise. Use it for internal bathrooms, volume housing, and anywhere the trim is in an internal corner and not getting kicked.

Aluminium trim costs more. It needs a proper blade to cut. But it holds finish longer under UV and impact. Use it for external corners in high-traffic areas, south-facing rooms with direct sun, and anywhere the architect has specified a metallic finish.

Most of our contractor clients order a mix: PVC for internal corners and quadrants. Aluminium for external corners and end caps. We ship them in the same container. See our Wall Panel Trim category page for MOQ, packaging, lead times, and shipping details.

PVC Trim on Site: What Fitters Need to Know

Cut PVC trim with a standard fine-tooth hand saw or mitre saw. No special blade. The cut edge is clean. No burr. No need to file. Measure the wall height minus 5mm for expansion. Fix with solvent-free hybrid polymer adhesive or neutral-cure silicone. One bead every 200-250mm. Press the panel edge into the trim channel. Clean excess adhesive with a damp cloth before it skins over.

Storage matters. PVC trim left in direct sun on site for a week will warp. Store flat, indoors, out of direct light. If a length has bowed, lay it flat with weight on it overnight. It will relax back to straight. Do not try to force a bowed trim into the channel - it will pop out when the panel expands.

Frequently asked questions

Which PVC trim do I need for an internal corner? +

A PVC internal corner profile. It sits behind both panel edges where two walls meet at 90 degrees, so there is no exposed cut line and no silicone bead. For a curved or easy-clean detail, use a quadrant profile instead - the radius sheds water and does not collect dirt.

What is the difference between edge trim and corner trim? +

Edge trim caps a panel's exposed cut edge - a window reveal, a door frame, a half-wall. Corner profiles join two panels meeting at an angle: an internal corner sits behind both panel edges at 90 degrees, an external corner wraps the outside of a corner. All six profiles belong to the same PVC wall panel system.

Can PVC trim be cut and fixed on site? +

Yes. PVC trim cuts with a standard fine-tooth hand saw or mitre saw - no special blade, no burr, no filing. Fix with solvent-free hybrid polymer adhesive or neutral-cure silicone, one bead every 200-250mm. Do not use acrylic sealant: it hardens, cracks on thermal cycling and lifts the profile within a heating season.

What lengths does PVC wall panel trim come in? +

Standard lengths are 240cm, 260cm and 290cm - one piece per wall height so there is no joining. Longer or bespoke lengths are available to order for container-fit projects.

Will PVC trim yellow or discolour? +

Indoors it holds its colour - 15+ years without visible shift in a bathroom with no natural light. In direct sunlight PVC will yellow faster than aluminium. For a south-facing window reveal, specify aluminium trim instead.

Is the colour painted on, or through the profile? +

Co-extruded through the profile. Not painted on, not wrapped. Scratch the surface on site and the colour is still there underneath. That is why the finish does not chip to bare metal the way painted aluminium does.

What is the minimum order quantity for PVC trim? +

300 pcs per colour - the same as our aluminium trim. Mixed profiles are accepted within the total order, so corners, end caps and H joints can be combined in one production run.

What are the lead times? +

15-25 days for standard profiles. 25-35 days for custom colour or custom profiles. Sea freight from Ningbo or Shanghai adds 25-45 days to EU, UK and US ports, on EXW, FOB or CIF terms.

How is PVC trim packed, and how much fits in a container? +

10 pcs per PE bag, 25 or 50 pcs per carton. Custom carton branding, part numbers and barcodes are available. A 40ft HC container loads 5,000-6,000 pieces depending on the profile mix.
