Here are the five key stages of the logistics process:
1. The Factory Gate (Pick-up & Inland Transit)
Everything begins at our factory. Either our freight forwarder or your designated one will arrange for a container truck to come directly to our facility for loading. The goods are then transported from the factory to the nearest port or transit warehouse.
2. Port of Loading (Customs Export & Vessel Loading)
Once the goods arrive at the port, they cannot board the ship immediately. They must first pass through "Security Check"-which is the export customs clearance process. A freight forwarder or customs broker will declare the goods to local customs to ensure everything is compliant for departure. After approval, massive harbor cranes lift the containers onto the vessel.
3. The Transoceanic Journey (Main Carriage)
This is the longest phase of the process. Your goods are secured in containers aboard a cargo ship (Sea Freight) or an airplane (Air Freight). The duration varies depending on the destination. During this time, we hold the "Bill of Lading" (the cargo's digital ID) and monitor the logistics trajectory closely.
4. Port of Destination (Import Clearance & Duties)
When the shipment arrives at your local port, destination customs will inspect the goods. As the importer, you will be required to pay the relevant import duties and taxes. At this stage, a freight forwarder or customs clearance agent will handle the filings and payments on your behalf until the customs office grants the Release.
5. The Final Stop (Last-Mile Delivery)
Once the goods leave the customs-controlled area, a container truck takes over for the final leg of the relay. The shipment is delivered directly to your warehouse or any specified address.
A professional and experienced freight forwarder is your best ally. They solve documentation and clearance hurdles at both the port of loading and the port of destination. While international logistics is complex, understanding these five steps eliminates most misunderstandings.
