What You're Buying: One Sheet, Stripped Down
A sheet comes off our MDF line in Haining measuring 2400 x 600 x 21mm and weighing about 12kg. 27mm slats. 13mm gap of black PET felt showing between them. 9mm of PET backing holding the slats together. That is the whole product: MDF, real wood veneer and acoustic felt - nothing else in the build.
The MDF core runs at 700-800 kg/m3. The face is real wood veneer: oak, walnut, ash or teak. Not printed. Not laminated. Not a wood-effect film stretched over plastic. Sand the edge of a sheet and you still see wood. This is the difference between an acoustic wood slat panel and a decorative panel that merely looks like one.
When a fitter opens the carton on site, they get four sheets. Each one PE-wrapped with corner protection. No loose slats, no edge damage from transit.
How It's Built: Real Veneer, Pneumatic Staples, No Glue
We fix the slats to the felt with pneumatic staples, not glue and not heat press. The staple gun fires through the MDF face into the PET felt backing. Staple pitch is set for each veneer width and checked on the line; every head sits below the veneer surface, invisible after finishing. Fast. Clean. Done on our floor.
Every production batch goes through a dimensional tolerance check (±0.5mm), a visual surface inspection, felt density verification and random acoustic spot-testing. Batch rejection records are maintained and available for audit. Raw materials are traceable: MDF from certified mills, PET fibre from a GRS-tracked supply chain.
The panel is CE certified under EN 13986:2004+A1:2015. Certificate SC-PSC-4-2026-06-53, issued by Certification Center LTD, Riga, Latvia - an EU notified body.
The Four Installation Mistakes That Kill a Job
The most common failure is not the panel. It is the substrate. We have seen jobs where the fitter glued sheets directly onto fresh plaster. The moisture in the plaster wicked into the MDF slats. Within three weeks the veneer started lifting at the edges, the gaps closed up as the MDF swelled, and the whole wall had to come down.
Another job: a specifier ordered 300 sheets for an office fit-out and skipped the flatness check. The 60cm wide sheets bridged a 4mm dip in the stud wall. When the afternoon sun hit, thermal expansion popped three sheets off the adhesive in one corner.
How to avoid a callback:
· Acclimatise the sheets. 48 hours minimum in the room they are going into. Stack them flat, never on edge.
· Check the substrate. Walls must be flat within 2mm over 2 metres. If they are not, batten first.
· Use the right adhesive. Solvent-free hybrid polymer. One cartridge per 2.4 sqm. Vertical beads at 200-250mm spacing.
· Leave a 5mm expansion gap at floor and ceiling. Cover it with trim.
Tell your fitter these four things. It will save you a callback on the first commercial job.

NRC 0.50 to 0.95: What It Actually Means in Your Room
NRC is one number. Zero means a surface reflects all sound that hits it; 1.0 means it absorbs almost all. Our acoustic wood slat panels measure 0.50-0.60 direct-mounted to a wall, and 0.85-0.95 when installed over a 45mm air gap with mineral wool.
That range covers two common specs. Direct mount fixes a room that is merely live - open-plan floors, corridors, meeting rooms. The air-gap build is for spaces where the brief demands serious reverberation control: lecture halls, studio rooms, restaurant dining areas. What an acoustic wood slat panel does not do is stop sound travelling through a wall. It absorbs reflections and cuts echo time inside a room; it is not a sound barrier between apartments or offices. If the brief is blocking transfer, the answer is mass and decoupling in the partition - the panel goes on the room side afterwards. Spec it for what it is and it will not disappoint you.
Where It Belongs - and Where It Doesn't
Not a living room weekend job. These sheets go into commercial builds: open-plan office floors where fifty people need to hear their own calls, hotel lobbies where the marble floor echoes every check-in, restaurant dining rooms where kitchen noise bleeds into seating, university lecture halls where the professor's voice hits the back wall and bounces.
Architects spec this panel when the brief says: cut RT60 below 0.8 seconds on a 200 sqm floor plate. They call us because the standard sheet fits the ceiling grid and the wall module without cutting - no waste, no fabrication delay.
Distributors in the UK, EU, US, Australia and New Zealand stock the oak and walnut finishes - those two cover about 70% of commercial orders. Ash goes to Scandinavian-fit projects, teak to hospitality, melamine to budget-sensitive education builds. Outdoor facades, wet rooms and party-wall soundproofing are outside this product's job.

Four cost drivers: real wood veneer (species and grade set the price), the 9mm PET felt backing at 1500-1900 g/m2, low-volume OEM batches with per-batch QC (dimensional tolerance +/-0.5mm, batch rejection records), and slower pneumatic-staple assembly than glued board. Cut cost with standard oak or walnut, melamine faces, or container-volume MOQ instead of small runs.
